slept in today, \u00a0which really should feel like a wonderful thing, much needed rest, I suppose
\nbut I awake feeling a little disappointed that I have slept through valuable morning reading time.
\nI walk down to the kitchen, feeling a little sluggish, curtains have not yet been drawn
\nmy husband has had to leave for work quite early this morning,
\nso.. \u00a0no coffee perking on the stove … hmm.
\na \u00a0neighbour’s dog’s incessant bark grinding my nerves.
\nan email from a friend, that I love dearly saying she has been terribly sick, weighs heavy on my heart,
\ngrey clouds hover ..
\nthe tiniest little peep heard outside my window, \u00a0it’s Mr Blue ( jay) with a gentle call I’ve not heard from him before,
\nand in the searching for my ‘gentleman caller’, \u00a0my eyes rest upon my garden
\ndespite the lack of shine and a rather cool breeze, it seems to be beckoning me out
\nI’ve neglected it lately
\nbeen to busy for rapture?
\nstepping out, I instinctively head for the pond
\nmy ‘peaceful place’ – a fine place to start a journey
\nthe fish today are having a meeting, all gathered together at the surface
\nclouds part just a little and the sun peeks through
\nall the gaping mouths open and closing in perfect unison
\nI do believe they’ve formed a barber shop quintet, come to serenade me
\nbreathing in, I squint my eyes, I think I can just hear them in perfect harmony
\na check in with the tadpoles, still busy as ever in their swishing
\nno sign of legs yet, but body shapes are changing and tails thickening
\nseems to have turned their motors up to turbo!
\nthey tease the fish, sneaking over and under, stealing food pellets, swimming them just out of reach
\nthen hoping aboard for a free ride
\non the back of the brilliant orange of my red rocket, a tadpole floats and \u00a0now I spot them,
\ntiny little black legs!
\npausing in this moment – I smile
\nit is always this, \u00a0the pause, the wait,
\nbe still, just look
\nand a small miracle is revealed
\nmy spirit buoyed a little, I move to the vegetable garden
\nthe peas have formed a jubilant chorus stretching their little bodies to the sky
\nand Yes! the first tomato, \u00a0no, no – two lovelies have put the other plants to shame in fruiting first on the scene
\nthe marigolds sit brightly proud, as if they’ve had something to do with it.
\nmy dog has found just the spot in the grass to roll, which I am sure will make him smell terribly, but right now
\nmakes him roll around \u00a0quite joyfully
\nI stop to admire my newly acquired potentilla, a gift from my love, \u00a0glorious in it’s delicate flowering
\nI turn my face to the sun’s full beauty, now beaming
\nI step in to it’s light, close my eyes, \u00a0raise my arms
\nfeel it’s warmth on my skin, enveloping me in it’s glow
\nmy eyes still closed, the strength of it’s rays somehow turns everything around me the most beautiful shade of pink
\nand in it’s light
\nthis …
\nthis is just where I need to be
\nfeet firmly grounded
\nwings unfold
\nonce again,
\nmy heart
\ntakes flight<\/p>\n
