the bluest of skies
\nand the sun
\nin her brightest glory<\/p>\n
not a day for squinting
\nor shade
\nbut to open your arms
\nwide

stepping out this morning
\nmy first visitor in the garden
\nis a monarch butterfly
\nsuch a wonderful
\nsight<\/p>\n
sitting with a coffee and
\nmy book
\nI feel a slight tickle on my leg
\nand look to discover
\na little white fuzzy caterpillar
\ninching his way up the leg
\nof my shorts<\/p>\n
while we chat, \u00a0I assist this little fellow
\nin his re-location
\nto greener pastures
\nMrs. Cardinal comes to sit
\non my chair
\nand her Mr
\nperches on the basket
\nof my bike
\nresting under the tree<\/p>\n
the batteries in the camera
\nare dead
\nno captures this morning
\nonly
\nsights<\/p>\n
I have just finished a fantastic book
\nand I sit to write a review<\/p>\n
flies start to annoy
\nand rather suddenly
\na wave of nausea
\noverwhelms me
\nallergies .. \u00a0hah!
\nI am forced back inside
\nfor reprieve<\/p>\n
I can feel myself
\nteetering on the edge
\nof low- ness
\ntension
\nis there
\nis
\nhere…
\nmy light sometimes
\nflickering
\nlike a candle bothered
\nby a breeze<\/p>\n
sharp words with my husband
\nlast night
\nhave left us in a kind of
\nnecessary silence
\nuntil we have
\ngiven each other
\nenough space
\nto cleanse out palates<\/p>\n
a bit of quiet today
\nsuits my need
\nfor kindness
\nto ease myself
\nthrough<\/p>\n
to thinking
\nto feeling
\nto
\nbreathing<\/p>\n
to carefully
\ntending
\nthat little flame<\/p>\n
and
\nto keeping
\nit lit<\/p>\n
to allowing for sunshine
\nmixed with the passing of

yet still

\nLove
\nand beauty
\nin quiet
\ngentle ways

and yes, to the occasional
\nwooly white
\ncaterpillar
