I am nudged awake this morning
\nby a great rumble of thunder
\nand a smile
\nI happen to love thunder
\nsuch an amazing, awe inspiring
\nresounding voice
\nunseen
\nit sounds as if the whole of the sky
\nwill just open up
\nsometimes a low rolling growl
\nsometimes in very loud bombastic
\nstarts<\/p>\n
as it’s been very hot and dry
\nI know too that this brings with it
\nthe promise of rain
\nand soon, it begins to shower
\ndown
\nI can almost hear my gardens begin
\nto sing<\/p>\n
I guess it’s inside for coffee
\nthis morning
\nwhere I am welcomed by the comforts
\nof my chair
\nwhile I read,
\nMrs. Cardinal comes to the window
\nunusually, not to knock
\nfor attention
\nbut rather, just to sit on the ledge
\nand enjoy the rain
\nand my company, of course<\/p>\n
Mr. Cardinal comes to the feeder
\nwith this year’s offspring
\nwho is,
\naccording to all the noise\u00a0he’s making,
\nvery, very hungry!<\/p>\n
As soon as the showers stop
\nI grab a fresh luscious peach
\nfrom the basket
\nand head to the pond
\nit’s pretty peaceful and quiet here
\nthis morning
\nI am met only by a dragonfly,
\nuntil the cardinals come over to visit us
\nhere too
\nand then Mr. Blue makes an appearance
\nhe too has brought
\nhis young one
\nseems it must be family day
\nas the sparrows who land on a nearby branch
\nseem to be feeding
\na little one as well<\/p>\n
a quiet walk through the gardens
\nto greet the flowers
\nsome with bountiful heads bowed low
\nin great gratitude for the rain
\nas I walk
\nerrant vines and branches gather strands
\nof my hair
\nand when the sun shines through
\nI can see traces of me
\nhere<\/p>\n
when I stop\u00a0to sit on the patio
\nthe baby cardinal comes to sit
\nright beside me
\nand although he is a little shy
\nI tell him softly just how very cute
\nhe is
\na sudden flutter above my head
\nand baby blue hops into the wisteria
\nwhile I am a little leary of looking
\nstraight up
\nI smile, when I see him and marvel at just
\nhow beautifully vivid
\nhis colours are
\nalready<\/p>\n
I am in full wonder
\nand gratitude
\nfor the blessings
\nof this day<\/p>\n
and how easy it is
\nto bear witness
\nto Joy<\/p>\n
whether it is in a loud
\nrollicking ROAR!
\nthat shakes you awake
\nand demands to be heard<\/p>\n
or just to be
\nsat quite still
\nand visit
\nwith a new little friend<\/p>\n
my heart fills
\nand
\nI find the traces of me
\nhere<\/p>\n
as I receive each
\nwonder
\nI feel I am being
\nrestored
\nwith Gratitude
\nwith Joy
\nand
\nwith the sweetness
\nof a
\nfull heart
