to me August has a feel
\nno matter how I try
\nto not
\nacknowledge
\nit is there
\ntapping it’s fingers
\non my brain<\/p>\n
there just isn’t enough
\ntime
\nit’s fleeting
\nseasons will
\nchange
\nthe most joyous
\nwill
\nfade<\/p>\n
it is not entirely mournful
\nnot my
\nattitude
\nit’s just
\nthere
\nin the distance
\ndrumming<\/p>\n
and so
\nI try
\nto clear, to empty
\nto silence<\/p>\n
deep breath in<\/p>\n
let’s just go out
\nin search
\nof
\nsimple<\/p>\n
the joys of a hot summer day
\nto myself
\nwhen the heat is such
\nthat there is
\na very real need
\nfor sitting<\/p>\n
still<\/p>\n
and you must know
\njust how very well
\nI can wear
\nthis<\/p>\n
to the pond, where a toad is sitting in the sun
\nwhile the fish
\nare madly racing
\nbumping into plants, tails flipping
\nabove the water
\na sudden yet graceful plop
\nand a splash
\nhas me searching
\nfor the swimmer to surface<\/p>\n
here
\nit is necessary to sit
\nrather still
\nor you miss
\nall of
\nthis<\/p>\n
the Blue’s come and go
\nbeautifully free
\nfive of them in all
\nthey are not in the least
\nbothered
\nby me<\/p>\n
I fill the bird bath
\nand they wait
\nanxiously
\nin the branches
\nabove my head<\/p>\n
I step back to watch
\nthem gather<\/p>\n
to my left
\nI see Chippy
\nand in front of me
\nthe grey squirrel<\/p>\n
I can see red’s
\nand pinks
\noranges, purples
\nand yellows
\nluscious, luscious
\ngreens
\nand blue, as far as the eye can see<\/p>\n
the sun warms my skin
\nand soothes me
\nwith the light scent
\nof coconut
\nthe butterfly’s dance
\nand slowly I close
\nmy eyes<\/p>\n
breathing gently
\nbreathing beauty
\nbreathing Joy<\/p>\n
I smile<\/p>\n
and with much Gratitude
