\na morning kiss for the turtle
\n‘Good Morning James’, always the first greeting
\nof the day
\nand then the dog,
\n‘Hello Sweet Boy”
\nsettle in to comfort
\nand sink into a really good book
\nconverse with your husband
\nand swell with a gracious Love
\nwhen he
\nmakes you laugh
\nuntil the fresh air
\ncalls you out
\nthrough the branches of the tree
\nthe sunlight is teasing
\nwaiting for you
\nto catch fire
\nstep out, filling to the brim
\nsmiling wide
\nup into light
\nstop at the pond
\nfor quiet meditation
\nwonder and awe
\na walk through the gardens
\nshining in beauty
\nand audaciously free
\nthe roses are refusing to hide
\nany bit of beauty
\nfrom the others
\ntheir blooms are bountiful
\nthe bees lavishly bathe
\nin pollen
\na little chipmunk sneaks in
\nto stuff his cheeks with peanuts
\nclosing your eyes
\nthe sun and breeze
\nconspire to make the leaves
\ndance in delicate sparkling shadows
\nacross your face
\nhand slips into pocket
\nand there fingers find
\nyour little stone
\nheart
\nthe only sounds are
\nthe grasshopper and one saucy squirrel
\ngratitude intoxicates
\nthen your husband
\nand the dogs arrive
