i spotted you today
in all your magnificence
such glorious beauty
and grace
and i hoped
at once
you had come
looking for me
to bless me with your presence
that perhaps
you might recognize in me
a kindred
i watched you move
elusively through branches
while i waited
hoping to be seen
and yet
not wishing to intrude
and then
in a blink
you were gone
and i reminded myself
to breathe
