This morning, the sun is shining brightly
on a fresh dusting of snow that arrived softly
and ever so quietly
in the night
when I look out to the front porch, I see tiny little birdie feet
tracks in the snow
for me, such a lovely sight
mingled among them, larger paw prints
and I wonder to myself, who was coming and who
was going?
It is Family Day weekend here, and number two son is home
from university
so our house is full, I being the first one to wake
am sitting quietly deeply absorbed in my book, as each member of the family
slowing start to trickle down
one
by
one
and the absolute joy I feel in this blessing,
listening to footsteps above, identifying
each one
ever expands
my always grateful heart
shortly after, news arrives that someone we hold dear
has lost a brother
and we reach out to offer our sympathies
I think of this lovely fellow, quite soft spoken, kind in spirit
and genuine
in heart
always personable, cheerful and bright
I don’t even know when I might have seen him last,
but the thought of him instantly brings to mind his kindly smile
a little crooked, almost bashful
sure to easily melt a heart
and what a blessing to have called him
friend
and again I am thinking about comings and
goings…
and just how often we are touched by both
and really how very much both, can expand our hearts
(even when it feels as if we
have been wrung dry)
it is love that saves us
it is
love
that save us
again I look out to the porch, in the snow
half shadow, half light
and I think,
it is to our good fortune you have come, to make us smile
and how very gently made your mark… in these prints
and on the hearts of those you have touched
and then, to have left
when at precisely the right moment, it seems
how very wonderful
that you
have
found
your wings ♥
in loving memory, Peace be with you Greg ‘Chip’ Leddy, and Thank you xx
