Tamara Willems

ah, but in case I stand one little chance…

So much rain and drizzle,
grey skies
proves rather dreary
of course there hasn’t been a need for
shoveling
but it does make things outside
quite
dull

a new favourite song that I have had on repeat
since first I heard it
Dear Insecurity, by the great
Brandy Clark
accompanied here by the equally wonderful
Brandi Carlile
aims to carry me
through
all

“if I can’t find a way to get you gone
Can we find a way to get along, along, along
You’re carless, and you’re cruel, and, oh, you’re mindless
Maybe you could try a little kindness
Instead of hurtin’ me”

has me thinking today about the whole
new year, new you sorts of things
being today
December 31st,  and New Year’s Eve
upon
us

this new year
will be handed to you, in
morning light
and wouldn’t it be lovely if it were
sun

one hopes, I suppose
that this one will come…
gently

of course the heart of this song
now running through my head
speaks most to the churning of anxiety
that some days
feels
my ever constant companion

days when I might drag it along
by one hand
rather like a scruffy toy bear
who has seen
better
days

knowing perhaps, precisely
just whose hand it is
I am
holding

really, the insecurity one feels is more so
with
the world around us
and the insatiable need for
more

for more violence, oppression
aggression and
hate
division, derision, disgust and
disdain
the separation of
one,
ya know…

You’re carless, and you’re cruel, and, oh, you’re mindless
Maybe you could try a little kindness
Instead of hurtin’ me”

so, as we now find ourselves on the eve
of our
brave new year
might we at least try to move ourselves
forward,

with kindness

might we perhaps bring
with us
our own sort of
light

might we be
mindful, of others
try for more compassion and
care
might we be conscious of those suffering
and ever careful
of our
step

might we, wherever we go
lead with
our tender hearts
open and
honest

the other night my daughter brings in
a woolly bear
which, if you are not familiar, is a
fuzzy brown and black caterpillar
she has found outside, and is determined to
keep him
as a pet
… upon further research we find although he would make a good pet
for learning,  he is actually better suited to wintering outside
and therefore, he is kindly returned to his natural habitat

my daughter is not 6
no, my daughter happens to be 27
but I will tell you,

it is the very kindness of her heart
I truly hope
in all of this great world
she never
loses ♥

Bless you my friends,
and all the best in this bright
New Year
ahead

I do hope this finds you
well -^-
