On the lookout for beautiful things…

Seems of late,
I haven’t really had
so much to say

this morning I make time to
catch up on some reading from writers
I
trust

s’pose this is the thing, these days
trust
in
your sources

December,
wintery weather is upon us
as I’ve probably said before
I don’t much like the cold
although a sunny day is always much easier to take
but a grey, blustery cold wind
and I am inclined to be
indoors

we have so far,  but a dusting
of the white stuff
and temperatures have only just begun to dip
below the freezing point
but less hours of daylight do take
a little adjusting

I have had to pause feeding the birds
as a couple of
unwelcome visitors showed up
in the garden
and though I know, they are but
fellow creatures
I am still hoping they might just
move along

the hawk on the garden gate at the weekend
was indeed
a most welcome sight,
as I believe he keeps certain beings
in check
and we always appreciate
his majesty

the downy woodpecker was in
for what little bits of seed
he could find
left over in a feeder
and he
is always quite lovely to see

I tend now to apologize, each time I
spot a friend
that I cannot replenish the seed
just yet

around the house
still missing my big furry boy
as I well knew, I would
reminders of
great love

that
lives on

and most recently our fridge died
so we live like some kind of
privileged pioneers
with bits stashed here and there
until the new one
arrives

our eldest son will have a birthday
next week,
it’s hard to fathom, just how fast
time
can
travel

and,
thinking today that I hadn’t spent much time
in the garden
(since the need … of cozy slippers)
I took my camera out
in the cold grey-ness
of the day

fill my lungs
with the chill

and looked for something beautiful
that might still
remain

trusting again,
as I do
in simple things

like love

to find me ♥
