Tamara Willems

chapter and verse…

This morning I notice a book
under the nightstand
by our bed

It’s called Fifty on Fifty or
something of that nature
while here I am on the eve of
ten years past
and…  I’m not even sure I have read it

it seems strange yet, somehow I
am about to hit some sort of
milestone
today then, with that title stuck in my head
has me thinking about
sixty on sixty
so…  here you are
completely random thoughts, in no particular order –  as my love will tell you
with me, this is precisely how they come:

  1. Love is Love is Love…   you will never convince me otherwise
  2. Should the words ‘I love you’ cross your mind,  say it out loud
  3. Kindness matters, in all ways,
    always
  4. Always consider another opinion – even if…  you do not agree
  5. Do NOT decide on someone else’s story, until you have listened
  6. As an adult…  do not fight with your brother
  7. If someone talks you into holding resentment towards another…
drop any and all loyalties, and decide for yourself
  8. Don’t live your life being bullied by ‘shoulds’
  9. Go pee, when you have to go pee
(otherwise, maybe not in the middle of a grocery store)
  10. Say I love you, and say it often
(regardless if you think they already know it)
  11. Read a book, read a book, read a book
  12. Acknowledge and say Thank you to people in any form of
    customer service
  13. Don’t do things just to be nice, do things because
    you are kind
  14. Pay attention to what makes you happy
  15. Look at the sky
  16. Notice trees
  17. And birds
  18. Children
  19. Babies
  20. And dogs
  21. Try not to miss a good gaze at the moon
    (full or otherwise)
  22. Find things to be grateful for
  23. Celebrate, big things and small victories
  24. Cherish your friendships
    (in your own way)
  25. You DO NOT have to follow the crowd
  26. Pay attention to your breath
  27. Sometimes comfort zones can be just that – Comfort
  28. Grow less lawn!!
(certainly better than grumbling about having to cut the grass)
  29. Learn about things you don’t know – instead of pretending you do
  30. Always stay open to learning, as well to new ways
    of looking at things
  31. Tell people how wonderful you think they are AND
why < this…  the important part
  32. No matter, the number
you can be as perfectly silly or as perfectly serious
any time you wish – with respect to others, of course
  33. Always reserve your right to question
    authority
  34. Speak up for injustice
  35. Don’t believe the hype (especially in this day and age)
  36. Find out for yourself
  37. Listen to love songs
  38. Look at art
  39. Get good sleep
  40. Move your body
  41. Find more ways to listen
  42. Connect when you can, withdraw when you
    must
  43. Respect your right to say, no thank you
  44. Respect yourself, and DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
let anyone treat you less than
  45. Believe in goodness
  46. And Santa Claus
  47. Let things go – because they will
  48. Value presence
  49. In this age of not believing, sometimes you just have to
    trust
  50. Things have a way of working out, as they should
  51. If added on to someone’s ‘expertise’, is trying to sell you something,
they… are trying to sell you something
  52. Sometimes it is necessary to indulge yourself in a
very bad mood.  Just try to keep from inflicting it upon
someone else. (that’s the tricky bit)
  53. Do invest in recognizing – when it’s just you
  54. Open yourself up to other genres, be it music, movies, books, art
    people, cultures, countries, beliefs
  55. Instead of accumulating followers, be sure to consciously
    appreciate kindred fellow-ers
  56. Make time to be still
  57. Periodically remember to do things that the small child in you
    thought was wonderful
  58. Do try always, to be open to wonder
  59. Treat yourself to something you love
  60. Always, always celebrate your birthday!

May love and kindness surround you ♥
