I don’t understand…
I don’t understand meanness
in the world
I don’t want to listen to
loud angry voices
insults and accusations
rhetoric and banter
lies and plagiarism
nasty words
seeking victims
and for one minute think that this
is ok
I don’t want this to be
our
normal
I don’t understand
the language of unkindness
the inciting
of violence
the thoughtless aggression
division
derision
it’s
us
OR
them
I don’t understand…
because, then
where are
We
where then,
are we
I don’t understand
the disarray
the disturbance
the dumbing down
of words
how then do we return
to Hope
to allow words like
Grace
Gratitude
and Joy
to float
when we have been bathed in
vile
disgraceful
muck
when we
become weighted
and worn
there is no kindness
here …
