Tamara Willems

where nothing needs tending…

August in the garden feels
like
luxury
there is a sort of gracious
ease
to it
where nothing needs to be
tended
bothered or fussed about
the growers have grown
the bloomers have
bloomed
some already faded and gone
some still
shine
tadpoles become toads
baby birds have well since flown
the nest
and
butterflies abound

this week I heard that Sixto Rodriguez had died
at the age of 81
if you’ve never heard of, or watched Searching for Sugarman
you should do
it is well worth your time
to discover this humble man and the
legacy he (now) leaves
his story, his
music, his
life

this week I finished a fantastic book
that offered me
much
I’ve started two others, one in which I am currently
gasping through a truly horrific time
for Jewish refugees trying desperately
to flee
an unthinkable nightmare
the other I am quite slow in beginning,
(been sorting out a new phone)
but really looking forward to
digging in

I am trying to not give in
to the slight awareness of the season
waning
spending as much time as I can
feeling the sun
on bare shoulders
it’s something I love, immensely
and
enjoying the flowers

it sometimes feels like just such a short window of time
to feel this
bliss
and one must savour

but of course,
I tell you this here
so that
anytime I wish…

I might return to this feeling
and the garden
again

as now, you see
I’ve brought
you

along
too  ♥
