Tamara Willems

still here, in garden light…

Today begins, hot and
lovely
somehow we have rushed through spring
and catapulted ourselves, full force
into summer’s heat

which I do happen to love
immensely
but still…
I am thinking how nice
it would be
to slow down a little
and just enjoy the unfolding-ness
of
spring
no need to rush to
glory

this morning while I am sat to coffee
outside
beside me a thousand tiny beads of gold
held lovingly in almost invisible
strings of sticky, silken threads
bravely and stealthily
begin their move

to sail

tall stems of phlox, beside my chair
blowing over in the breeze
prove to be just the bridge needed
from table, to phlox, to book on my lap
as a few even travel up my arm
I marvel

Amazed

always when I see teeny tiny baby spiders
starting to launch, I think of
dear Charlotte
well prepared for beginnings as well
as an end
I can almost hear tiny voices
excited for adventure

“We take to the breeze, we go as we please.”  ~ E.B. White, Charlotte’s Web

Of late, I have neglected my post
I’ve been a bit…  who wants to know,
who would really care,
why am I even thinking to share such
ordinary-ness
of days
and please believe me, this is not a cry for attention,
or plea for complimentary kindness
(I am not that kinda girl)
I’ve just been stumbling through
days… you know,
feeling what even have I offered
of any significance
to the world
and why should anyone care, whether I have
written words
or
not

(maybe this is further separation
from ego… )

anyway, I haven’t made time
for writing
and I know if I fail to move any words
out
they do tend to
jumble up a bit, causing great discussion between
heart and brain
on how best to put things in order
again
even for just a little
unfettered
being-
ness

all of this, is also just to say
that the season has been wonderful
so far
and we have been
busy
making small improvements/adjustments
in the gardens
so much to enjoy, as warm sunshine
deliciously scents
the skin
while periodically
encouraging
rest

the ponds are lavish
with tadpoles
and I am trying hard to convince the many,
many
chipmunks
to at least share portions
of the seed
with the birds,
much appreciated

lovely husband and I
continue all efforts to unlawn
and keep to as many native plantings
as we can

since beginning this, this morning,
grey clouds have floated over
but sunshine and blue skies seem to be
winning the day
the air quite humid

‘spose all I really wanted to say
is
I do hope you are well, dear friends
and May you find yourself a small sunny spot
in your day
to marvel at something
to appreciate something
and just
to say
thank you

for
something ♥

“What’s miraculous about a spider’s web?” said Mrs. Arable. “I don’t see why you say a web is a miracle-it’s just a web.”
“Ever try to spin one?” asked Dr. Dorian.”  ~ E.B. White, Charlotte’s Web
