And so today,
it’s
my birthday
“Happy Birthday, I’ve just realized! the lovely lady says to me
Are you doing something special today?”
she asks,
this is it, I tell her, some laundry
and
a mammogram
something special… for me
I had decided that today, I would write small thank you’s
for the lovely people at the hospital
at reception, at
diagnostic imaging
and at the Breast Screening Clinic
thought I would probably need three
then somehow, losing track of time, I dashed out the door
and realized…
I had forgotten my notes
oh well, I sighed while walking along in beautiful sunshine
I suppose, they will have to be
verbal
it happens to be a fantastically beautiful fall day
sunshine and blue skies, all around
gorgeous golden and scarlet leaves to
rustle through
a very large dragonfly along my way
sits on the fence, to watch me pass
some lovely white chrysanthemums with
deliciously bright pink edges
add delight
while I marvel at the architectural details
on
old houses
and listen to the birds
at the hospital, I make it a point
to thank the ladies, and one man
for every kindness shown
and the lovely lady who tries hard to be gentle
knowing full well, repeatedly squeezing of ones breasts
between two plates, is not the most comfortable thing
she is very kind,
and I thank her, for taking care of me
on my birthday
then I walk back out into sunshine
and think to send a few more
thank you notes
out
on the breeze
to find
you
and hope
you
are well
and that this day, you too
are met
with great kindness
and love
always with love ♥
*friendly reminder, if you are due… do get your mammograms ladies
