Remembrance

Yesterday morning I attended the Remembrance Day ceremonies in Ottawa, as I always do – which is to say I stand in my living room in front of the TV.
(for some reason I always stand, in ‘prayer pose’ for the whole thing.)
It was wonderfully moving, as it always is – the Silver Cross Mother being one of my favourite (and equally heartbreaking) people and stories to watch.
As well of course, as all of the honoured veterans in attendance, to look upon
their faces
with reverence and great gratitude
the only bit of disappointed for me was that I did miss Peter Mansbridge,
and mostly I missed listening to Rabbi Reuven Balka who has been a very important and meaningful part of the ceremonies for me, always in his messages of
kindness.
Anyway, all I wanted to say is how very important, and how very necessary in today’s world
to be called
to
gratitude
