Tamara Willems

fresh blanket of white…

And so, as warned
a large blanket of white descended
in the night
it’s cold and it’s wet
reluctantly,
I suppose now it really is time to put my gardens
to rest
as the sun streams in my window
just in case today you haven’t found your smile
maybe I can share with you
mine
first up of course,  today’s great blessing
of sunshine to start the day off
just right
as well as
from the inside looking out
it all looks quite lovely
this bright new covering of fresh white
to morning coffee, and quality time
with my Love
oh so soothing
to the heart of
me
and the arrival of the sharp-shinned hawk
stopping to rest on the gate
so that we may admire his magnificence
whose picture I do not take
as not to disturb his privacy
and really,  I’d rather just look
than risk missing
this
to stopping for a minute to marvel as an icicle drips
liquid shimmer from the tip of
it’s gentle undulating
curves
outside it’s the leaves in a beautiful mosaic
of colours
to a deep inhale
and the smells of a genuine freshening
of the air
not really expecting much to be left of
my flowers
there she stands my majestic beauty
now delicately adorned with snowy nightcaps
evermore delightful
I gather up my Buddha, dust off his fluffy white
hat and robes
I bring him inside (in more ways than one)
where my husband has just returned from a few errands
and picking up my next read from the library
in the short time he was gone, I have managed to
discover two more of interest
and expanded my joy to find that the library too
has ordered them in
my husband cuts us slices from a beautiful grainy dense fresh bread
to go with our lunch
of delicious steaming soup
and then we sit down
my love and I
basking in deep gratitude
as I pour out for him
my
smiles

so there’s mine,
I hope today,
somewhere
you find
yours  ♥
