it is we come to the close of another year
and there were days that seemed
to fly
before we begin anew, let me offer you
my gratitude
hopefully you have loved
some
sadly of course, we have lost
some
but let us end the year with a
thank you and the great gift
of
peace
to those of you who have been kind
to those of you who have been brave
steadfast and solid
to those of you who have been fragile and hopeless
yet showed up anyway
to those of you who have endured or adored
and encouraged
to those of you who lead with your heart
or have recognized yourself
in mine
to those of you who make us laugh
or hold us when we cry
who guide us with the strength of a certain
humanity
and touch us with grace and
humility
to those of you who are rugged
or ragged
or ruined
to those of you who are
real
to those of you
who have blessed my life
my heart is open
my shoulders strong
and I stand in great gratitude
to you
