As I stand this morning in my place in the sun, coffee and cinnamon still warming in my cup. My intention is to observe and to visit, take it all in..
there is much to admire in this Autumn day …
instantly that beautiful shine catches my eye
just at the corner
draws my attention to the light
brings my face to the sky
my heavy lids to a close
the sweet serenity of my smile to spread .. wide
breathe
this
in
my ears become aware of the crickets steady chirp, and flight of an airplane over head
and the tiniest little chatter of the sparrows
who seem to be respecting my space
opening my eyes, just a little
brings me to shadows on the lawn, sparkles and shimmers
and fairies that fly
the warmth of the sun seems to have partnered with the breeze in lovingly caressing my skin
summoning my spirit to sway with the rhythm
of the trees
the trees themselves seem to be honouring this day with their flashes of beauty
and their gentle laying down of leaves
the crab apples by the pond have now softened to a deliciously buttery yellow
some tumbling down, offering themselves freely to the squirrels for their harvest
The robins happily feasting on the pokeweed, whose berries have swelled in beautiful indigo bunches
My closest companion, the cardinal still taps at the window, indicating the feeder has now been emptied, and since I am here, possibly I could top her up!
Remarkably, there are still a few tadpoles among the fallen leaves in the pond, I am now willing them along to maturity, as if rushing against time and passing seasons.
Most of the apples have now been picked, and decorate the kitchen – really just awaiting my attention to the warming smells of the season, though we have left a few for the blue jays and various visitors to pluck away at.
Always allowing for equal opportunity to all of our offerings of remaining fruits & vegetables, flower heads and seeds.
There is much delight in the busy gathering of the squirrels and chipmunks, the birds and still bees, as they prepare for the waning of plenty.
To savouring the sheer generousity offered by the late bloomers who have craftily held out for their own solitary place on the stage of beauty.
To taking this all in
in the sights
in the sounds
in the senses
with wonder
and with grace
in the swelling of my heart
in the gratitude that comes
with the return of my sons
with the gathering
of my immediate family,
our daughters, my husband
as well as a few of those that we hold dear
and can be with us
it is in
the seeing
in the feeling
in the witnessing
in the
acknowledging
in the drawing in
and
in all of this
this
is my
Thanks
and my
Giving. ♥
All good wishes to you!
