a cause most worthy…

A couple of nights ago
I watched an interview with Dr.Tak Mak
a Canadian medical researcher, geneticist,
oncologist and biochemist
(the reader will note here, that I am terrible
at relaying details from something I have watched
or listened to, even when I have been completely
fascinated)
Dr. Mak, I will tell you is largely known
for his genetic research and breakthroughs in immunology
and the discovery of the T-cell receptor
but also, my take-away
a
lovely,
humble man
whose contributions to the world of
science, medicine and discovery
are quite
significant

Yesterday morning,
a dear little Junco taps his small toes
on the window ledge beside my chair
teeny-tiny taps
for
attention
looking up from my book, I notice
the soft white fluff
of his
underbelly
the contrast
of a gorgeous grey coat
and
tiny black buttons for
eyes
not so flashy as some
the junco really is a beautiful
winter bird
they bring a kind of gentle peace
against a backdrop of
falling snow

through the kitchen window
another little fellow
the chickadee is checking in
at the feeder
distinctive in their calls and even
tiny peeps
the lovely little black cap
and round body

while the stout morning doves
waddle around
underneath
endearing to me, as one is rarely seen
without
the
other

hardly feeling myself very
remarkable of late
I battle a bit on the inside with a
(weak) commitment of sorts
to get to
walking again
suppose you could say, I take it
small
in that I do indeed take myself out
with full intention

I do…
wander

I feed the birds, walk familiar paths
and take in the simple, beautiful things
of the winter garden

the air is
fresh
and the sun shines warm and
bright

here, looking up at the sky
I
re-
commit myself to
peace

leave the idiocy and the oligarchs
the inhumanity and the
frat-boy fascism
to the doom-scroll hungry

if you want outrage, you can find it
if you want artifice, you can find that
too
if you want information,
it is
available

but a lovely, genuine peace
these days

feels a most worthy cause
for

cultivating 💗

May you be well
May you be safe and
at ease
May you be happy, healthy and feel yourself
supported
May you be
kind 🙏
