Maybe in the grand scheme of things
it isn’t really much
of anything…
this morning, I am about four hundred pages in
which is a little less
than half-way
through
the most wonderful book
that I am enjoying
immensely
consisting of letters between six sisters
spanning about the whole
of the twentieth century
sisters I am well acquainted with and feeling now
so very pleased
to
know
I did have a few light plans for my day
but finding oneself
solitary
for most of it
and sitting in amongst
soft joys
has me actually accomplishing
very little
I have managed the catch up on
recent posts from writers
I feel quite honoured to indulge in
but the restlessness in the otherwise
under-populated house
seems to be suggesting movement
from one’s perch
may
be
necessary
my companions today
two furry fellows, one rather solid boy
who will insist on sitting in one’s lap
as well as, the other boy who,
despite his size is still a baby and therefore
in need
of constant attention and
entertainment
and food, and out, and in, and
out again
and so on and so forth
and so we go out, in to the astonishing comfort
of a fall day
where the greater portion of the back garden
has been turned into
dirt
-under leaves
we spend some time wandering
about
gazing at the sky
following jet streams in expanding
streaks of white
and admiring the great beauty of the roses
as they fade
I just love them so
possibly at this stage of their growing
even more
(reflections…)
then the dogs and I play a game,
Roo’s favourite game
known as fetch
in which our Roo has taught the humans
to throw the golf ball
to which he quickly gathers three
to hold in his mouth at once
from there, we (the humans) throw the ball
AND
retrieve the ball
while Roo
holds
three golf balls in his mouth
at once
so, I throw,
and I
retrieve
‘cause dogs are smart
back inside
late afternoon light begins to fade
from the skies in the
west
as love songs serenade the setting
of the sun
I realize, I don’t think I’ve actually
accomplished much today
the sky now
a blanket of soft grey cotton puffs
delights
and once again, oh, how lovely
the fading of the
roses
sigh… ♥
