to a visit …

“Why don’t you come,
and visit me here “..

Now, these are words you will very seldom hear come from me.  It’s not that you aren’t welcome, it’s just that I don’t do that  ‘come on over’ thing so well.  Except of course,  in this way,  this is where I will say to you,

Why don’t you come,
and visit me here,
and we
will wander …

the sun is shining beautifully bright, there is no resisting this invitation
to step out

The only thing you are required to bring, is kindness, a jubilant spirit, (although we gladly welcome the uncertain and melancholy ones too, lucky for me!) soft voices, and loving eyes.
Big frog calls from the far side of the pond, and as I come closer, there Little frog sits on a lily pad, and I think to myself,
could there possibly be anything lovelier
than a frog
on a lily pad?
My lovely Mr. Limpet is also there to greet me in his silent fishy ‘Hello’, and the snails, ah the snails, perfectly graceful and content to be.
We’ll stop here to admire each one, and I tell Big Frog, just how gorgeous I think his legs are, and he hops across the rocks, just to show them off.
The Blues have now become such a wonderful part of my everyday entourage, that they seem to accept me,
as kindness.
What a thrill this is to my joyous heart,  each time they come around, and perch just beside me.
As not to be forgotten or overlooked in any way, the Cardinals are never far off.  Mr. Cardinal travels in close companion with Mr. Blue, and I assure them,  I love them both equally. in all there glorious beauty.   I set out some monkey nuts for the Blue’s, as well as a few for Chippy, and quite quickly the squirrels are aware of a free meal!  First to arrive is the grey, followed soon after by a little brown one,  and a little black one bravely sneaks in for his share of the bounty. All are most welcome, as long as they are willing to share.  Another little grey has perched on the bench with an early fallen apple from the apple tree.   A flutter of activity and everyone scurries off with treasure.
You will find, if you are walking with me here, or even just standing quite still to watch, that when this joy first swells, I do greet each one out loud, as I channel my inner Snow White, and I believe we are equally happy to see each other.
There is also a greeting to my flowers, even if I have just been to see them yesterday.   They still can make me smile by blessing me with their beauty and I thank them for this.  I commiserate with my white rose, that the Japanese beetles just can’t seem to resist nestling in to her beautiful blossoms, and I try to help her out by flicking them off.   I look for anyone new who may have popped up without my knowing, and make sure to encourage the self-seeders to keep up the good work!   I stop to wonder if the stump knows just how generously this new fungus is beautifying his side.
I bid fond farewell to the flowers and plants who are spent, or laying low, as I know, there time does come.
Until we meet again, I say, with a gracious nod of my head.
A great disruption of thunder, soon echos through the sky, and the Hawk is certain everyone should know that probably rain is eminent .    This rumble makes me smile too, even as the sky begins to darken.  Such a wondrous thundrous sound! Under the roof of the patio, I wait for the dancing pitter-patter of little feet, as the rain drops begin.
In between rumbles the cicadas and crickets increase the volume of their songs.  Then, a few little ‘gungs’ from the frog, and a distant call from the Blues and it seems everyone is now taking shelter somewhere, as the breeze gathers in.
The raindrops begin falling in increasing frequency,  suddenly drowning out almost all other sounds.
As the splashing starts, I guess perhaps it is time for retreat!  For another cup of tea, and a seat indoors, to enjoy the rain.
Such a lovely visit, won’t be spoiled by this,
stepping over the dogs,
and things left
undone..
I do hope you have brought with you a book …    ♥
