Such a beautiful breeze, beckons me out today,
down to the pond to greet the day
Little frog and Big frog are both out sunning themselves
and on the far side I see a toad
inching his way in
I am quite happy to see him
and I assure him
in my recent fascination with the frogs
I have not forgotten you lovely toads
as if buoyed by this confession
a lovely little fellow hops into my path
on his way to the garden
beautifully brown, camouflaged perfectly with the dirt
I offer him praise on his attire
as it is now mid to late August
a most unwelcome gang is gathering
and have begun to pester almost relentlessly
the notorious yellow jackets
I try my best to ignore them, as my focus is
beauty and Gratitude only
turning from the pond I see that my most loved thistle
has now burst herself wide open
and is ready to fly
how courageously beautiful she gleams in the sunlight
I know just how grateful the finches are for her seed
and as the breeze blows
the sailing of these little garden fairies
is to me the sight of
Joy
not many newcomers among the flowers lately
still I show my appreciation
to the ones I see everyday, still beautiful
in all stages, coming
and going
it appears the apple tree won’t have much
to offer this year
probably just the birds and squirrels
will reap the bounty
and that’s ok
as it reminds us to appreciate the
more ‘fruitful’ times
lessons from the apple tree
I look at all the things I should trim
lift and replant, deadhead
maybe move
take a few quick pictures
and watch the Blues as they gather
as well as the usual visitors
the sun briefly shines through
a sky full of clouds
and lights my smile
as well as my heart
I close my eyes and smile wide
at the sky
with great Gratitude
to you this day ….
and then a bee
suddenly
stings me on the toe
and I am reminded
head-in-the-clouds
there are things to be done
today ♥
