stepping out
large blue bowl of compost in hand
heading to the far corner
of the garden
a fairly mundane task
I’m looking down
watching carefully as I step
with two dogs and rather long grass
this
has become my own personal mine field
after reaching my destination
and dumping the last of the kitchen scraps
from my bowl
I turn to begin again
my carefully placed steps back
the slightly shrill peeps of the cardinal
stop me for a moment
capturing my awareness and drawing my attention
up
to my surroundings
from a new perspective
(not my usual spot for morning salutations)
softening my eyes and face
I start to look around
at the changing and fading shades
of green
at the tumbling forward of my Iceberg roses
still full of beauty
at the gorgeous swelling of a bulbous quince
snuggled here on a more private side
of the shrub
and up to the late day/early evening sunshine
dancing and glowing on the tops of
a spectacularly decorated maple tree
highlighting the colours of her changing leaves
and up to the sky fully cloaked in it’s deliciously
calming dusky blue/grey
smiling in appreciation for these few moments
and for the quiet peace
of this
beautiful day
I continue on my way
then there’s Mr. Blue
stopping here, to have a look
think he might be smiling
too
I return to my tasks
eyes full of beauty
heart full of Love
and
grateful
for this
ordinary day
and yes, too
for the perspectives
of blue ♥
perspectives of blue …
