Tamara Willems

to be read steady and slow, in a whisper…

To lie for a time
with the dog at your side
snuggled in warm, under covers
not wishing to be
fully
awake
yet, no longer really
asleep

to feel breath, steady
slow
and
deep
kind, comfort
and
soothing

hand on his warm tummy
rises and falls
gently

this is meditation
and
loving kindness too

to stand at the kitchen sink, for a time
watch the bees at the trumpet vine
bouncing from one
to another
selectively choosing maximum sweetness
hovering above, then
a soft
tip-toe in

this too, is meditation
and
loving awareness

steady
stillness
sweet

to walk, in the sunshine
feet
on the ground
bird song accompanied
air
fresh
noticing light
and shadow
on leaves, and petals
glimmer and
glory

where very often
I am knowingly (and sometimes
not)
composing words in my head
that float off my tongue
and spark like tiny fireflies
in the night

where this too
feels like meditation
to me
as it grounds, and calms
eases out cobwebs and brambles
greets the garden as my
sacred place
for
being

perhaps seen and not
heard
except for the flowers

this is where I open myself up
to love
to receiving
to surrounding
and to
releasing

this light,
this love
this gentle stillness
of
being

that it might land
like the softest kiss to your forehead
be it furrowed or
bowed

and for this precious moment
make you
look up
and
out

at all that surrounds you

in loving kindness ♥

may you be
